Idiot Box Blues

In the mood to obey
Eyes glued to the box
Can't resist the temptation
Throw it to everybody

All sex and violence
So much for the radio
The lust and candy
Tell em what's to be seen

Telling too many lies
Can't resist the temptation
Where are the good people?
Laughter when people died

Singing the woes of the blues
Sweetness in the blood
Sweetness in the drugs
Controls too many lives

Just give em the blade
Too many muckrakers
Garbage is king and queen
Moves like a puppet

Entertainment's in vain
Eyes glued to the box
Stations want to turn it on
Nothing is what it appears

Burning

I'm lost in the fire
I see the smoke from Canada
The glow of orange
Entering New York City
Like it's the end of the world
I'll never laugh at California again
I have smelt the smoke
It's high in the air
The coolness of the day

There's smoke in the sky
All over the East Coast
The Midwest and the South
The horror of doom
I have seen the glow of orange
Everything that's burning
I have felt the the high air quality
No water can cleanse this
The wildfires that burns

Maestro

I have made up the bed
That I lie in
Dipped my wings in the sunset
Swimming in red wine
Tears like blood drops
The American army
Has won the war
I take a hit like a crackhead
And it feels so good
I cook it like food
My arms too short to box with God

Drop a dollar in the jukebox
So I can sing along
Baseball cap covering my eyes
Wrote a poem and a song
To keep in good company
With the itch rub the oil
Closer to free
Part of the common people
I read the newspaper
In a New York state of mind
Till something better comes along
