The way you looked that night...

still steals my sleep.

snowy skin,
racoon mascara,
skull cap strands,
snatching fingernails,

deceptive dress,
silenced slippers,
strangling necklace,
masking panties,

no prints discarded
on the carpet,
no imprint of a figure
in the mattress,
no hairs as evidence
of your presence

bare feet sneaking out
the broken window

as I was discarded, broken,
bound and gagged and
left unconscious in the closet.
